Connect. Campaign. Transform
Local Change
Meet others in your local community who feel passionately like you do, that some
things need to change.

Create campaigns or community projects together, and help positive things happen!
People living in a community are the people who know it best and know the stories of the place. Often, rather than councils or external services, local people are the ones who know what needs to happen to make solid, positive changes.
Do you feel like this? Are there things you can see need to shift in your local community? Would you like to connect with other people and find a way foward?
Local Change is here to help connect people in the Wealden District of East Sussex, supporting people to talk together about the issues, and find the solutions they want to move foward with.

The solutions could be local campaigns or community projects, or better ways to find out what everyone thinks in the local area.

Have a look around this website and see what local campaigns and projects you might like to get involved with. Join us! Together, we can make things happen!

How you can get involved
Local Change is made up of groups of people who live in the East Sussex area and who want to help change things for the better. You are welcome to join!
As long as you care about positive changes happening in your local community, there will be something you can bring to Local Change.

Some people like to help with sharing campaigns and projects on social media or getting flyers or posters out in their local area, some like to help with fundraising, other people prefer to help organise meetings, petitions, other actions or community events, or even just welcoming people and making the teas!
There's no time commitment. You can help occasionally or regularly, it's up to you. It doesn't matter which skills you have or don't have... there will be a way you can get involved. Get in touch and chat with us about it!
How Local Change came about
Local Change is a group of local people who care about local issues. The group is supported by a Community Campaigns Lead person and organisations and charities in the Wealden area.
We raise money to run campaigns and projects, from donations, fundraising events and external funding. We are a self-organising group and we make decisions together, by talking through the options and deciding as a team.
Local Change is grateful to these organisations for their support

Current Campaigns and Projects
-
Fair for All Families campaign - Having to pay for school extras (uniform, trips, class materials) affects the budget of many families. We've started a campaign in Hailsham, Uckfield and Crowborough called Fair for All Families. We're asking schools to take positive steps to support families of all income brackets. Check out the campaign facebook page and join the campaign here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2037328130072256
-
More mental health support - Local Change is helping a group to form, of people who have experienced long waiting lists for counselling and support. Could you be part of it? This group can help to tell us where the gaps are in counselling services, so we know how to find solutions.
-
Community Hub - A community support hub for Wealden could happen (support from lots of organisations all in one place). Could you join a group that Local Change is helping set up? This group will help say what they feel the community hub needs to be like.
-
Kinship Carers support - grandparents or other family members or family friends who are bringing up children, need more support. Are you in this position? Could you help to tell us what the challenges are, so that we know what needs to change?
